Lumi Master Beginner Guide: 12 Tips for New Players

Lumi Master is a portrait-mode monster-collecting RPG from Bilibili where most of the game happens in short bursts: you tap to explore, catch the Lumi you meet, and build a three-Lumi team for battles. These tips come from the official launch notes, the in-game data and what players and guide creators reported in the first week after the September 17, 2026 launch.

1. Your starter barely matters — pick the one you like

The three starters are Flameow (Fire), Jellibae (Water) and Zorrat (Grass). All three evolve at Lv. 15 and Lv. 35 and end with very similar stat totals, and the other two can still be caught on the main map later. The starters page compares their final forms and kits.

2. How exploring works

Press the exploration button and your character runs along a path, meeting Lumi, resources, treasure and random events. Each step spends Energy, which is the resource that gates everything — the store page describes it as spending Energy “to trigger instant random encounters”. When you run out, progress stops until it refills, so read the Energy guide early.

3. Multipliers spend Energy faster

You can explore at higher multipliers, up to x100. Guide creators report that x100 catches around ten Lumi in one go, which is efficient only when the map is worth it. Early on, a moderate multiplier on the main map is the safer spend.

4. Learn the rarity colors

Caught Lumi come in green, blue, purple, gold and rainbow quality, from weakest to strongest. Starcolor is a cosmetic effect on top of rainbow. 5. Redeem the codes on day one

The four launch codes give 50 Energy each, and more arrive through the official channels. The current list and the exact redeem path (Menu → Settings → Redemption Code) are on the codes page.

6. Do not level every Lumi

The leveling materials run short quickly — several players on r/LumiMaster hit a wall after leveling their whole box. Level the three or four Lumi you actually battle with and leave workers at the level their job needs.

7. Evolve at Lv. 15 and Lv. 35

Every evolution in the data happens at one of those two levels. Three-stage Lumi evolve at both, so a Lv. 35 Lumi is usually close to its final form. The evolution list shows every line.

8. Use type advantage

Battles reward switching to the right type: Bilibili’s own launch notes tell players to swap Lumi “based on their opponents’ weaknesses”. The type chart has the full table and a weakness checker for two-type opponents.

9. Put spare Lumi to work at your Haven

Your home (“Haven”) produces resources through jobs such as farming, mining and cooking. Lumi with a matching work specialty and a high Work stat produce more, and some have traits that only work in one building (for example Chiccoo in the Henhouse). See work specialties.

10. Trade duplicates instead of hoarding

Stellarization and the egg exchanges let you turn several gold or rainbow Lumi into a better egg. Players who play free-to-play say this exchange is one of the main ways they got a solid team.

11. Guilds and the season map come a bit later

Guilds unlock at Explorer Lv. 45 (official announcement for the Lumi Championship guild event, which starts September 30). The Season 1 map opens around Explorer Lv. 45–50 — sources differ on the exact level.

12. Your character and outfit

Every player starts as the same preset character with a random name. Players report that appearance options (Outfit) open up after you clear the second area, so do not worry about the look on day one.
